Here is a picture of the rims. They are all four suppose to be like the one in the picture. The guy said 14 inches, slotted......They will work on my bus right?

I guess those are slotted, it is hard to tell.....Maybe you are right, I should wait and educate myself more. I just know I want an extra set, and a guy on Craig's list is selling four and is in my area for a great price.
I'm sure I can find more later. |

64-67 split window buses came with 14" rims from the factory.
Lowering your bus 1-2 inches can be done with full sized stock tires. A heavy load of stuff for the dump will lower a stock height bus that far.
In the rear, you only need to re-index the torsion bars to drop a couple of inches. In the front, if you only want to drop that far, an adjustable beam is the way to go.
If you have any more questions it would be best to add them to the lowering thread. You will likely find more interested parties with more concise answers to lowering questions. Plus it keeps this thread clear of discussions outside the main topic.

I could measure one for you, but I don't recall exactly where ET measurements are made. _________________ nothing |

you measure the distance from the center of the rim, to the area that touches the brake drum
it can take positive and negative values, hope this helps _________________ regards

OK. I guess it could be hard to determine the exact center of the rim, but I am willing to give it a try. _________________ nothing |

Shouldn't you just be able to measure total width and divide by 2, then subtract that from backspace? |

That would make perfect sense to a man that has not had a few stouts on his Saturday evening of watching hockey.
If you are patient, I will measure a few 14, and 15 inch wheels tomorrow.
If you are impatient, I will measure them tonight. There may very well be a difference. _________________ nothing |

Sorry, haven't done it yet. It has been absolutely pouring rain all day, so I have not been out to the shop or the backyard.
I'll give it a try tonight. _________________ nothing |

Hey there, I had a 15" and a 14" hanging around so I thought I'd measure them for you (even though it's raining here too) .
Here is what I came up with using the ruler they gave my kids in grade three:
J4x15 rim - ET32
J5x14 rim- ET50
For interest sake, the difference from outside edge of rim to mounting flange is 5mm between the two rims (the wider rim being the 14").
Again not too sure as to the accuracy of these measurements, given the rudimentary tools used, and the mosquitoes are just starting to come out now.

OK, here is a bus 14. Total width first, then a measurement from the inner bead lip to the face where the drum contacts the wheel.
Now, a bus 15" wheel, non-crowsfoot.
And just for comparison, a wide five beetle smoothie.
Sorry for not doing this with a metric tape, it didn't occur to me at the time. _________________ nothing |

Correct me if I am wrong (as if I have to add that on the Samba) but, rim width is measured from tire seating surface to tire seating surface, and ET is measured from centre line to mounting flange. Right?
I could not find any J stamping on my 14" rim, bus rims are 5" wide, aren't they?
