Will this bus be driving to OCTO? |
It's a very close call Greg, I need a full week off to come play with the bus and get it ready and I'm slammed with work, right now I'm gonna say no, but I'll see if I can make something happen this week |

It's too bad these update photos aren't being uploaded on The Samba gallery... I'm sure they'll just disappear at some point. |
I just checked with my team of handlers and advisers and they tell me it's cool to upload pictures directly to the samba. next round of pictures will be uploaded directly here. |

Out of curiosity, did the insurance of the idiot who plowed into the bus cover all the repairs? |
nope, in South Carolina where the accident took place, you can insure a car for as low as 10K liability only, and that's all the attorneys got out of them, the guy was broke in debt so our attorneys went for the sure money 10K minus their cut. |
Wow, that's lame! That includes the medical pay out? I got more than that out of Geico when my 66 caught fire, and your bus is definitely worth more! Could have been worse, could have got hit by someone with no insurance at all. |

so the frame horns must have been tapped by something. I remember reading that the motor still ran. All that force was transmitted through the crank pulley nut? _________________ Waiting for santa to drop off funky green. I can wish can't I???? |

I'd be surprised if the engine is ok. All that force that bent the crank pulley probably damaged the thrust bearing. |

I hope not, we'll see where we are on that when we cross that bridge, worse case I slap a runner on it until I get it back home. and then go from there. |

Hey Manny, if you eventually plan to drive her across the country (and not ship), you'll always have a bed to sleep in if you pass thru St. Louis on the way home... just sayin'...

Manny, I believe you found the right metal guru to make this bus right again. It's awesome he was able to save all the og metal.
Very impressive work. _________________ WANTED:

Wow!! This does the heart good to see and read!! I love this bus, very happy to see the work done on this. If restojohnny decides to hold a class on dinging metal back into shape,I urge all locals to attend! This work is not for everyone. You need to understand how metal moves as you go. Clearly he does! This bus looks killer! Great work! Looking forward to seeing it on the road again! Very happy for you Manny!! |

I just caught up on the incredible re-working of this amazing bus after your wreck Manny. Just woke up to read the thread and I don't think I'll stop smiling for the rest of the year . THANKYOU all for the compliments on the work done to the CRW. This was one bus that I've enjoyed working on and I want to thank Manny for the patience and the motivation and the opportunity to work on the CRW : I've worked on ALOT of rare busses in my life but the CRW is my favorite of them all and I'm glad to be a part of it's cool history See you real soon Manny and again my great friend "THANKYOU" for letting me be apart of this cuz your bus kicks ass |
You sir deserve all the respect and praise that has been dropped in on this thread.

Manny I just spent quite a bit of time reading through this entire thread and wow what a story. You were definitely the right guy to look after this bus through its first and second revivals. Restojohnny has insane skills and I have to say most people including myself would have been cutting and welding and not swinging a hammer and dolly. Absolute artwork and passion for a great old vw.
Looking forward to seeing this bad boy once its all buttoned up. _________________ Shadetree Westy

So pleased to see this thread and bus resurrected after all this time, I remember watching the build first time round and being so gutted for Manny and Leanna when the accident happened. |
