Has anyone added 3 point seat belts to a convertible? If so, where did you put the anchor point? Is there a anchor point for the shoulder strap? Any help or pics would be great! |

I've only been on this forum a year and a half, but I don't recall anyone talking about installing three point belts in the rear seat of a vert. I support you could drill for anchor points on the window sill...but I think it wouldn't look very good. _________________ "Otto" -- my '68 vert

My '69 has what look like seat belt mounting points high up on the rear firewall, but I have not tried to put anything there. For some reason I think it used to have plastic caps over the holes, but it's been so long since I stripped the car that I don't exactly remember. Seems like a non-retractable seat belt would work in the rear, but I haven't tried ... yet.
Don't know if later years have those holes? _________________ Brian

The upper attachment point should be higher than the shoulder of the occupant otherwise serious back injury may occur from spine compression.

Did this last fall after some research. Built a frame anchored to wheel wells, floor and back firewall. There are large plates on the other side that each foot is anchored to. You can't see it, but there are two supports from the top going back to the firewall that tie it all in. The shoulder strap is in the middle then on the sides, but to get the correct angle for both an adult and one of my kids, it had to be this way.
*** The female ends were about 3" too long but have been changed out since.
