Nothing that specific yet....just a light tan. Could be Kansas Beige, I suppose. _________________ Later,

only in a smaller package
When he starts going to hot rod shows it will look tiny compared to the big 3.
When i park my beetle next to a friends 36 dodge it looks pretty small.
There will be a never ending list of questions about it whenever it gets parked.
I like to park the 65 square in front of our local watering hole and sit and watch all the people passing by trying to figure out what it is _________________ 1973 super 2110cc

Dash looks great John. I know we were talking about this at SledFest2, and I think we all agreed it was a way to go. I think it gives it a type 3 look to the dash.
I thought the color was supposed to be Mtn.Dew green? I see you kept the roof that color. The tan I wasn't sure about, but the more I look at it, the more I'm liking it.
John, what are you using for the roof trim piece? Have you thought about using a ghia coupe trim? I only say that, because your side window opening might be small enough now. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Glad you all are liking the progress. It is a fun process.
As for the roof side trim, I am planning on hammer forming a piece of stainless steel over a wooden form. Probably made from MDF. That way I can get the trim to wrap over the roof rail some, not just be a flat piece. Then I can just polish it up and be good to go.
Don't think a ghia trim piece would have the right shape. _________________ Later,

Yeah....no. The stock early Type 3 taillights are one of the few items that I am keeping original. Not only are they a truly beautiful design, they are perfect for the car.
Got the hood on the clock bezel tonight....
Also did some some paint stripping and welding up of more holes.
Goal is to get to the point by Sunday that I can fire up the heaters nice and high...get it warm in the garage...and get the pan and the bottom foot or so of the car in Masterseries. That should just about finish off the can I have. Will have to order some more. _________________ Later,

I agree John, the early t-3 tail light is what makes a t-3 a t-3. I'm even thinking about adding them to my Square-vert, as I have an extra set of them (was going to do that this year until I started working on the t-34). Hood over the clock looks good too. Looks like you've been cleaning up some welds while suited up for the cold weather. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Looks a lot like L563 Safari Beige, an awesome 1964-65 Type 3 color. It's a little on the green side of beige. If I were to own another 1500S it would have to be this color.

I think that would be an excellent color for the sled, since it's got a hint of green in the tan. It might not be Mtn Dew green, but with a slight shade of green mixed into the beige, it could work out real sweet, and being a t-3 ONLY color would be the icing on the cake. I think Rob's Roadster was originally that color, and the parts of it that it still showed (under the rear fenders) looked really cool. He almost went back to that color, but it wasn't in his plans. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Back before Christmas, I got the floorpan all cleaned up and repainted with MasterSeries.
You can see the reinforced pads where the seats will be bolted down. They need to be drilled and tapped still....but the pan is otherwise done. At least from a metal work standpoint. Need to get some sound and heat insulation and stuff for it still.
I also got most of the body shell prepped. Still chasing small rust spots and such. I did manage to get the pan mating surface and rockers in MasterSeries. Need a second coat still but I will wait til I get the rest of the rest of it stripped and prepped.
Since then I have been fiddling with the seats in the basement, but finally got out in the garage for a few hours today.
I started out grinding the mounting feet off the bottom of the Ford Flex seats that are the starting point for my "bench" seat for the Sled. This is so they will sit nice and low on the new mounting pads in the floorpan.
After setting them on the floorpan, I was able to finally get a good measurement of the space left between the seats for the center section armrest. Only about 6.5" which meant I need to section out about 6" from the F150 center seat/console that is the starting point for my armrest.
not much left of the armrest structure. You can see the part that I section out laying on the pan. I will need to add some wire supports for the foam and such when I get to that point. Still need to modify the lower brackets to attach to the tunnel and make a simple pan to support the cushion foam that will complete the bottom cushion of the "bench" seat.
Here are some more pics with everything mocked in place.
It is going to be nice having all the adjustment in the seats and the heating elements...considering the car won't have heat or side windows....
Felt good to be back out there working on the Sled. Supposed to start warming up here some in the next week. I plan to get out there more. _________________ Later,

Looks good John. I thought you were going to sandblast it though. Well, I guess if the wire wheel takes it off, then it must not be too bad. At least with the rotiserie you can move the body where you want to make it easier to clean up. Unless you're modifying the seat backs, it doesn't really look like a modified bench seat.
Yeah, I heard we were going to have a warm up next week. I sure hope so. All this damn snow and cold weather is making me go crazy stuck inside trying to stay warm. I want to get back to working on the T-34. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
