|
|
Hi All -
Well here it is - we have been planing and have tightened up our itinerary.
This is the US celebration of 50th anniversary of the Type 3 VW.
It is fashioned to be a self catered affair, just a four day gathering of folks
and our cars in a central location in one of the most beautiful areas in California.
The beach town of Cayucos is going to be the home base starting Thursday
evening, September 29. There will be a cruise up to Lucia (in Southern Big Sur)
on Friday, an all German Car show that we will have a special spot at in
Cambria on Saturday and a cruise to the wine country of Northern San Luis
Obispo County of Sunday.
Scott Taylor has put together another great blog with information about the
event as well as the original introduction of the Type 3 50 years ago.
Please visit us at
http://vwt3celebration.blogspot.com/
Come for the day, all four days, or what ever you can make.
Accommodations range from camping to 4-star B&Bs
Here's a good place to start looking: http://www.cayucoschamber.com/Lodging_motels.html
But Morro Bay isn't that far away either.
There are a few things we are still working on - such as trying to get the
Borridori Garage for a party on Saturday night , but they depend upon the
turnout, soooo, please give us some response, either here, at the blog,
or PM me or Scott
Thanks, Tom and Scott

This area and event may be a bit to refined for an individual such as yourself anyway.
The Invasion is just your speed
(that may of sounded hurtful and arrogant on my part, because it was meant to be )
Just kidding
This will be a great spot to have a get to gether. Great driving roads-lots of T3s and a show with other "different" krauts on hand. I am realy going to try and make it. I think it would be a great excuse for me to pick up my car from Jack and drive it up. Im heading to Seattle tomorrow from San Antone. When I get there, take a brake, breath, talk to the miss then Ill have a better idea if I can pull this off.
So 1500 members and anyone else I can convince of a good time, be ready for a road trip! _________________

Yeah, I don't think I'll be attending either (too far to drive). I am however planning on attending the 2012 Invasion. But then I'm an Invader. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

If I can get my fastback watertight by then I'll be catching at least the show. Fender damage by a trash truck means I have a bunch of work to do before then! |

This sounds like a lot of fun. I can't use the "it's too far away" excuse considering how far away some of you people are...

Wouldn't that be the 51st anniversary anyway _________________ Tom Reay

Story of my life. But really, it's a little too far to attend that late in the year. If it was closer to me, I'd think about it.
On another note, IS anybody attending this event with a 61 T-34?? If not, then next year is the 50th anniversary of the T-34 (which works well with the Invasion). _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

that's what I was thinking too, theres definitely going to be some '62 in attendance
I think it's pretty cool how some of the bigger show's made accomodations for t3's this year. Unfortunately out here in texas there is just a couple of handfuls of type 3 enthusiasts with road worth cars |
Yeah, other than my own cars, I can count on 1 hand those within 15 miles of me. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

This one was built in 61:
I totally understand that this would be a major cruise for people in the mid-west, but if you are in southern California and have a road worthy type 3, and don't come....you'd better be working on your karma _________________ Tom Reay

Very NICE, and my favorite color too!
I hope that you will have an excellent turn out, great weather and take lots of photos for those of us wishing we were there! _________________ Sue

New York was the first state to require license plates, back in 1901. In those days, you had to make your own. Sears even sold Kits! Massachusetts was the first state to issue them in 1903.

I should point out you don't have to bring a Type 3, we'll see if we can coordinate some any empty seats that might be out there. _________________ Tom Reay
