Rear model scripting for the Type 3
The following lists the Type 3 models along
with the scripting that appears on the rear of the car.
VW did not have unique scripting for every model due to financial concerns.
Some models do not have a Volkswagen script.

Letters and their meaning
| Model | Description |
| A | No extras, no chrome, basic model |
| N | Similar to A |
| S | S model, More chrome, more features - carpet, clock, etc. |
| L | Luxus (luxury) option, similar to S |
| T | Fastback, TL in Germany, the TL is Touring Limousine |
| E | Einspritzer, German for injection |
