'ICE LANDER' IS '71' KOMBI, ORIGINALLY A 2 SEATER VAN BUT DECKED OUT WITH BED,CUPBOARDS ETC, ITS BEEN IN A PADDOCK IN VIC. AUSTRALIA FOR THE PAST 6 YRS WITH A BLOWN ENGINE, BEFORE THAT 'ICE LANDER' TOURED FROM VIC. TO FAR NTH QUEENSLAND AND BACK WITH EASE, NOW IT IS BEING RESTORED TO HIT THE ROADS AGAIN. PHOTOS OF THE COMPLETED 'ICE LANDER' WILL BE ADDED ASAP.

My ´72 standard Kombi type 23 5-seater with walk through and 3 place middle seat, bought from the first owner with orig. 94000 km, first engine, but not first color, was unregistered since 1997 and parked in a car port ... still in restoration ... hope to get back on the road primed in Spetember 2002, painted in original light grey in spring 2003

I found this bus around 1997 Its your typical "setting in a feild for a long time" story, it was a dull Hunter/Blaze Orange on top and Faded Brown on the bottom with white primer poke-dots all over. It got its nick name Putt-Putt/Putter from its bad fuel injection...the problem was solved later on but the name stuck...Oddly later in High School I somehow got this very same nick-name (Dont ya love friends and how they do stuff like that to ya?)

It's not 100% original 1974. I bought it in 1993 and repaired quite a lot, including a new (standard) 1600 cc machine. My friend helped me a lot on machine work, especially putting a full-flow system. I tried to bring it back originally but here in Indonesia (Jakarta) we could not buy the whole original spare parts.
