73 T4 Deluxe-daily driver/restoring phishermansdead
Scored this from 2nd owner. He put a modified '79 2.0L Type 4 engine. Has HI/PO heads, dual 40 dells, allison coil/electronic ignition, SVDA dizzy, KYB Gas adjusts, 195/70's, and '79 091 transmission. Pretty much standard otherwise. 50k on motor/tranny, 200k total. Very straight body, except a couple of bumps and bruises. Nothing major, no holes. Nice and clean underneath. Needs the be restored but it's all I've got to go to work! I run 75 mph on the interstate for 20 minutes a day on a 70 mile round trip commute. Never over 300 CHT. He gave me another 79 T4 short block. $1600 wasn't too bad! Rear Seat Bracket OG Velvet
This is the bracket that holds the rear seat in place. There is one on each side. Mine are stripped out, but obviously bolts go in those holes. View other images: From OG Velvet Search Forums for photo
Started sanding all the visible rust spots. I will continue with this over the next few weekends. Once that is done, I am going to get the bus into the metal shop (probably in October) to have rusted through areas reworked. Once it comes out of the metal shop. I will begin stage 1 sanding for primer.
Busresto0004 - Evidence of large amounts of body filler shown here in this photo. It runs across the nose and onto the door. I went ahead and sanded this area, treated it with POR15 and then put some primer on it...eventually, the front nose clip will be coming off and the door will have to be reworked. Busresto0002 - After the POR15 dries and is still slightly tacky, I put a protective layer of primer over the area I was working on. This is not a final step, as evident by some blemishes in the finish. I will need to do some finish sanding but, that won't be for quite awhile. Busresto0001 - In this photo you can see the coating of POR15, a rust preventative...the lines you see are a reflection off the side of the house! View other images: From komputerjeanyus Search Forums for photo

1971 Deluxe [email protected]
A little elbow grease, new tires and a can of white spraypaint for the wheels is all it took to bring this back from a rat bus. Some help from www.surf-bus.com provided missing chrome trim and this sweet roof rack. (thanks Barry) View other images: From [email protected] Search Forums for photo

One cool looking engine lid. to bad i will have to weld some metal in behind the vents. but we all know hot exhuast doesn't help the carb. anyway, the vents will stay as a interesting conversation peice as the PO had put serious time in cutting out the vents themselves. Extra Goodies fayetta willman1
After hearing my husband talk to 4 am last night about working on my Bus, he started to tell me about the intersting things that have been done to the Bus from the PO that I just hadn't payed close enough attention to, or didn't know enough to notice it (my bad, but I am trying to learn). But, in this picture you can see that all the side flashers are gone and holes covered and primered. Also, the reverse lights have been removed and covered over. Everyone last night was making remarks about it and that they thought it was cool. View other images: From fayetta willman1 Search Forums for photo

The goal of tonite was to get my engine and tranny into my bus....
After getting the engine and trany back in my bus everybody really realized just how low my bus was and there was some discussion that i may be scrapping everytime i just try to back out of my parking space. I took this photo to show how low I could go. But I have to say one more thanks to the guys and hope my cooking keeps you wanting to come back for more. If you look really hard between Scott's and Mark's Bus you can see my Bus... Must make mental note to self to take off the big IN TOW shoe polish. don't think that will help me any to win the Uncle Jerry Jess Award. The goal of tonite was to get my engine and tranny into my bus. Here are pictures along the way as they put the motor back in. I will try to add a interesting footnote about what was going on in each picture. In this picturemy husband took a picture of - Left to right: Mark, Ron, and Mike. As they told interesting VW stories and talked about other busses owned in current and past lives. View other images: From fayetta willman1 Search Forums for photo

The Goal fayetta willman
The goal of tonite was to watch my husband and his friends put my engine and tranny back into my bus so I can drive my own bus somewhere, anywhere, just as long as I am driving it. Seeing my engine under bus and in the engine compartment was a beautifl sight, even though it was on jack stands... Gotta start somewhere, right ? a bunch of GREAT GUYS (Mark, Ron, Kevin, and Truckersonspeed Mike) came out to help. my deepest thanks again guys!!! My 1641 DP fayetta willman1
Here is some pictures of my 1641 DP that is being worked on currently and hopefully will be completed by tomorrow so I can make a mad dash to try to have the bus running for Bug-a-rama. The engine was in pretty good shape. It would turn by hand and once it arrived at the mechanics house we got it running before we left. That is always a good sign, especially after the engine had sat for 2 years. Can't wait till tomorrow to see and hear the engine again and hoping I can get ppl to help me install the engine View other images: From fayetta willman1 Search Forums for photo
