1971 Deluxe [email protected]
A little elbow grease, new tires and a can of white spraypaint for the wheels is all it took to bring this back from a rat bus. Some help from www.surf-bus.com provided missing chrome trim and this sweet roof rack. (thanks Barry) View other images: From [email protected] Search Forums for photo

One cool looking engine lid. to bad i will have to weld some metal in behind the vents. but we all know hot exhuast doesn't help the carb. anyway, the vents will stay as a interesting conversation peice as the PO had put serious time in cutting out the vents themselves. After hearing my husband talk to 4 am last night about working on my Bus, he started to tell me about the intersting things that have been done to the Bus from the PO that I just hadn't payed close enough attention to, or didn't know enough to notice it (my bad, but I am trying to learn). But, in this picture you can see that all the side flashers are gone and holes covered and primered. Also, the reverse lights have been removed and covered over. Everyone last night was making remarks about it and that they thought it was cool. View other images: From fayetta willman1 Search Forums for photo

I did learn last night that my Bus is a true sunroof or possible rag as on the bottom of my Bus there are belly pans. View other images: From fayetta willman1 Search Forums for photo

After getting the engine and trany back in my bus everybody really realized just how low my bus was and there was some discussion that i may be scrapping everytime i just try to back out of my parking space. I took this photo to show how low I could go. But I have to say one more thanks to the guys and hope my cooking keeps you wanting to come back for more. The goal of tonite was to get my engine and tranny into my bus. Here are pictures along the way. Here is a shot of Mark's. Mike's, and Scott's Busses. If you look really hard between Scott's and Mark's Bus you can see my Bus... Must make mental note to self to take off the big IN TOW shoe polish. don't think that will help me any to win the Uncle Jerry Jess Award. The goal of tonite was to get my engine and tranny into my bus. Here are pictures along the way as they put the motor back in. I will try to add a interesting footnote about what was going on in each picture. In this picturemy husband took a picture of - Left to right: Mark, Ron, and Mike. As they told interesting VW stories and talked about other busses owned in current and past lives. View other images: From fayetta willman1 Search Forums for photo

The Goal fayetta willman
The goal of tonite was to watch my husband and his friends put my engine and tranny back into my bus so I can drive my own bus somewhere, anywhere, just as long as I am driving it. Seeing my engine under bus and in the engine compartment was a beautifl sight, even though it was on jack stands... Gotta start somewhere, right ? a bunch of GREAT GUYS (Mark, Ron, Kevin, and Truckersonspeed Mike) came out to help. my deepest thanks again guys!!! My 1641 DP fayetta willman1
Here is some pictures of my 1641 DP that is being worked on currently and hopefully will be completed by tomorrow so I can make a mad dash to try to have the bus running for Bug-a-rama. The engine was in pretty good shape. It would turn by hand and once it arrived at the mechanics house we got it running before we left. That is always a good sign, especially after the engine had sat for 2 years. Can't wait till tomorrow to see and hear the engine again and hoping I can get ppl to help me install the engine View other images: From fayetta willman1 Search Forums for photo

New Seat For The Back Of My 1971 fayetta willman1
Here is some pictures of my new $30 seat I scored from a friend. The seats are in alot better condition then I had expected. I have to find some floor clamps for it, but its a perfect fit for the back there. The cushions are in good order as my husband and I bounced on them for a bit after we put the seat in the bus... Never know when you get a minute away from the kids... LOL View other images: From fayetta willman1 Search Forums for photo

Here is a better shot of the passanger side of my newest Bus. The Bus is a 1971 Deluxe with sunroof. It has a 1641 dualport, 1976 front and rear end, IRS lowering kit, luggage rack, billet fenders front/back (back is currently off as I am doing engine work), headlight covers, window louvers, tiny steering wheel, and some after market low profile sport mirrors. Oh, not to mention it came with its own Transformer's Decipticon insignia made out of diamond cut plate steel that will replace the org. VW sign on the front of the Bus. But I hope that once finished my Bus will get as much if not maybe more attention then my husband's Hotwheels Bus. Let's Hope ;-) View other images: From fayetta willman Search Forums for photo

Close-up Top Shot Amskeptic
The rules were, no parts in house unless thoroughly clean. By default,
it ended up being the first 100 point stock Type 4 dual-carburetor Bus engine
ever to be found in a house. The ignition scale was painted black with white highlights, timing mark on pulley is white with red arrow (matches dipstick) the coil looks like a network server because I have separate terminals for each cut-off solenoid, helps me balance carbs. Fan housing was sandblasted and clearcoated. All wires are soldered, taped and RTV sealed at terminals. Looking forward to spring.
It belongs in the car. View other images: From Amskeptic Search Forums for photo

In The Dining Room Amskeptic
The engine is sitting in the dining room waiting for spring. It makes a very uneven serving stand. We have not used it as a heating tray, because the muffler is off and it would be kinda of noisy. . . . View other images: From Amskeptic Search Forums for photo
