Does anyone remember the DVSA? This was (is?) a group of clubs who sponsored what we now call solo racing in selected parking lots (with permission).
Back in 1972-1976 I raced this '69 Beetle, taking first in class D/Mod in 1976. Tons of fun.
Sorry for the poor quality photo. Check out the Lightning Bug script on the engine lid; that became my CB radio handle. The emblem and the glove box door were kept as keepsakes from that little hotrod. Got married and started a family, so the toy was sold for a new Rabbit. My wife wanted to keep the '69. I'm glad this car guy has been married to a car girl for over 31 years!
