Gasoline tank color question

HI GUYS !!

I would like to know what is the correct color to paint a split gas tank .

it is actually matt black , but i think this is not the correct color ....i would like to refinish it anyway .

any help here ??

All of the splits I have owned have had black tanks. They were clearly original to the car.

Kinda semigloss. Could have been gloss at one point, but now its pretty old OG paint.

My 50 L51 (i think) red og gas tank is painted body color red. I have seen this on 4 diffrent red splits as well a other color So deepends on year i guess weather or not the tanks is black or body color.
