|

| Ive seen pictures of black fan shrouds and white fan shrouds on 356's. Any reason the factory would have painted white? or any particular cases? or is this just an owner preference? |

| White fan shrouds were usually found on the SC models. |

Wal-Mart has these really cool 3-step paint kits that make the colors change. Green to Purple, Blue to Red... _________________ I specialize in fixing whatever I can using Q-tips, feathers, and ball point pens.

| The early 356 super and normal engines had different sized Solex carbs so the engines could easily be told apart. The fan shrouds (a VW part) were all black. In 1957.5 when Porsche switched to Zenith carbs the super and normal engines looked the same so Porsche painted the super shroud silver to distinguish it at a glance. When they introduced the Super 90, although it had different, Solex, carbs they painted its shroud white. In 1964 the C engine got the silver shroud like the super it replaced and the SC engine got the white shroud like the super 90 it replaced. Occaisonally the factory did not have the correct shroud on hand so the built the engine with whatever color they had handy. |
