I just got done doing an ecotec swap on my buggy and was testing a couple things out so I drove down my dirt road and started to turn around in an intersection. I gunned it a little to spin the rear end around, couldn't have been doing more than 10 mph when my ass end hit the ground and my rear tire and drum passed me on the road. The EMPI stub axle I got with my 3x3 kit had snapped in half. I read another post in the fiberglass buggy section about these stub axles breaking.

You can see that grease had leeched in to the metal like it was already cracked before it snapped. These only had 200 miles on them maybe. Anyone else had this happen to them? If I would have been going faster I would have rolled.

That is the second one in the off road section lately, both failed when they were pretty much new.

Todd Francis in Washington state modifies stock stub axle for larger CV joints.
Precision Alloy (TF1 engine cases) and Avery's Air Cooled are a couple of place to contact him at.
