As I sit here on this remote island I like to pass the time by looking at pics of fully restored buses and think how can I get my bus to look that good? What has been blowing my mind is seeing how some of these people have been reworking the back of their buses. Some of the floors I have seen tile or a hardwood floor look! My question is how do they do that? Do they just go down to the Home Depot and get standard supplies and do this up or is there more to it? Can anyone answer? _________________ 1969 Westy. |

Nothing like "just do it" !
Start by taking your interior out, use your existing carpet as a template for measuring. Get a floor that can flex (a little) -no real tile. It weighs too much anyway. |

Yes, just go down to Home Depot, Lowes, or and other building supply store and get what you need. I purchased all my Bus Flooring at Home depot. I also bought my kick panel material there and other hardware too. _________________ 1978 VW Transporter (DLNDBUS) |

yep. hit up your local hardware style store or lumber yard and look around at what different stuff they have. find something you like that you can afford and then start working on it. buy a little extra in case you screw up parts of it.

Yeah I have always loved the hardwood floors in the westy's. So elegant. Makes me wonder why they weren't available at the dealerships... _________________ "He who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man" - Dr. Johnson |

hey Karl, nothin like a little haunted bath eh?! All spirits aside, I just completed a floor in my westy, 2 alyers of 1/4 ply laminated over some soundeadner, then some THIN and light eingineered wood floor(thin wood veneer over a plywood substrate), glued in and it looks great! Yuo only need 25SQFT.,so you can get lucky @ home depot and get a straggler box cheap,as most boxes of this flooring are 26.5sqft. |

Home deopt etc. carries vinyl "hardwood" than can be cut to fit with a utility knife in about an hour or two, and at a cost of ~$30.
Looks good too!
Here's an example but you can usually find some on sale cheaper in the store. _________________ No, you are not "tripping"

Yup the Brits are still here...There are about two dozen of them...the rest of us are U.S. Navy and Air Force. No VW's out here. I miss my Westy. _________________ 1969 Westy. |

Hey Robkerns someone gave me 4 boxes of that paneling to do the floor on my bus. I think 1 1/2 will do the job. Next time your state side and anywhere near Sacramento pm me you can have-at the rest.
Man I had to Google that Island since I've never heard of it. Looks like it would be a sweet place to go if there were hotties in thongs and a bar? If there ever was a VW on that Island it's probably so eaten by rust we'd never be able to recognize it as such. _________________ My wife giggles everytime I say "Gland Nut".
