I need to check my fuel pressure and have a gauge that reads 0-5 psi. I have it installed with a T-fitting between the pump and carb.

My question is: can I check the pressure just by cranking the engine a few times or do I need to check pressure my starting the engine, running it at 3000 rpm, and checking the pressure there?

Thanks

You should start the engine and let it idle. No need to run the rpm's up.

Just be aware, you will see fluctuation in the pressure as the needle valve opens and shuts

I think he got that 3000RPM spec because that is what you see in the big blue Bentley - maximum of 2.8 PSI at 3000 RPM. ( and I like that spec a lot better than the 3-5 PSI at 4000RPM that you see in the 70-79 Bentley! ) Still, a lower speed reading should be fine, but it does need to be faster than starter cranking speed.

Last time I checked mine, I got a more steady reading when it was not at idle.
