Hi, I make the adapters for the Big Nut bus boxes. Just e-mail me your shipping address, and I can get you a shipping quote. Check out the adapters at http://www.bugzyla.com and then click on the parts link.

Are these the laydown type or the upright type you make? Are they similar to John Johnsons adaptors?

3/4 of an inch or so. I ended up cutting out 1 inch by the time I got them even (hey my first time).

Here are some pics of my install.

if you notch too far, you could always add limit straps

I wasn't able to locate any adapters at the time I wanted to build my set-up. I welded a large bracket to the axle tube (outside side of spring plates) and backed it up on the other side of the spring plates with a "sliding" collar/flange tightened to the axle tube with U-clamps. Do you guys see any forseeable issues with this setup? I don't plan on any harsh off-roading, but I wonder about wheel hop and torsional stresses to the spring plates???

The only problem I see is the clamps may allow the axle tube to rotate under load. There is a tremendous amount of torque on these axles with the reduction boxes. What I would recomend is using a couple more bolt holes on the reduction boxes, and bolting them to your existing bracket to prevent the rotation.

Vanhag Nice job on the install. If wasnt so focused on the build, I might have taken better pics of mine. Can I use your pics on my site?

question: would one lose lift by making the spring plate come down lower than the center axis of the axle-shaft? or would one still gain the same amount of lift regardless. just a thought by looking at both adaptor designs.

You still get the same amount of lift with the first adapters shown, you just have to notch the spring plates to allow them to drop farther.

reffering to vanhags pics, with the shock mount. is it needed to space out the mount like that or will a coilover set-up reach the stock r/b mount.
