Anyone have any tricks for getting headlight rings to fit and seal to the body? I have a 61 DC that has never been hit and i am using headlight asssemblies that have been rebuild and are straight. Original German outer rings.

I can not get the ring to sit evenly on the body. I can get the sides to fit but there is a gap at the top and bottom.

Ant ideas?

thanks

MH I'll venture an answer,
I've rebuilt several housings and changed lenses and sealed beams. In the process of putting back the little keeper clips the outer ring gets slightly unshaped. Try sqeezing the top and bottom of the assembly before you put it on the bus...not so hard that the clips come out but enough to re-tweek the bezel part. Use a little dish soap and water swiped on the rubber seal to body. Use the butt of your hand or a soft wood piece to hammer the ring into the groove before you tighten the screw. Only hammer light and on the very edge by the body or it will dent easily. Also make sure you have the correct length spacer and that it is perfectly flat or the ring will follow the spacer angle.
