I picked up an engine this weekend and I need to get an intake manifold and carb for it.

The engine number is (6157992) so it looks to be a Sept/Oct 1961 engine. It came with a ZV PAU 4R5 distribution which I'd like to use.

I'd like to get a used intake off the samba - does anyone know what part number I would be looking for?

I'd like to run this as a 12V engine, would a 28PICT 12V carb work well with the above distributor? I already have a 30PICT carb would that work or should I look for the 28PICT?

Thanks for your help/input.

The 28pict uses a smaller choke element than the later carbs.
28pict-1, on the other hand, uses the commonly found choke element (6v or 12v) that the later carbs use.

either 28pict or 28pict-1 would be the carb that goes with that distributor / engine.

Someone else may chime on in how to pair a 30pict-x with it..

oh! and the other thing I know is that there are two different intake manifolds for 1200s. The one you need depends on which heads you have.

I've run a 30PICT-1 with a 4R5 and it ran just fine.
