Where can I find a picture of the meal fuel line that goes around the cooling shroud, for a 1971 Bus? My bus came without one. I bought a metal fuel line that is supposed to be for this Bus, but it doesn't fit like I think it should. It might fit if I bent it, but I would like to know the shape to which it should be bent.

Really I don't know where to look. Maybe a junkyard, or a car show: if they let you look under the bus.

Anyway, IMHO just bend the line you have. I replaced the entire line from the tank to the center carb on a 1974 with steel line. It was sold in straight lengths with standard fittings on each end. I bent and shaped as required, clamped in the right locations, and even drilled a new hole in the firewall to glue my fuel line in with a nylon grommet.

Basically you don't want the line to rub on anything.

Clamps (with rubber or nylon, commonly called Addel clamps) to secure the line in place are the way to go. Aircraft have used this for many years with no problems.

It's fun isn't it?

Cheers!

You might check the online catalogs from some of the various suppliers. #113 127 521A. It's a common part used on upright engines in Bays, splitty's, most bugs and Ghias. Some suppliers have a picture of it but I don't remember which ones.
It sticks out the front side of the front tin a few inches and goes thru the rubber grommet in the tin. Make sure you have a good condition rubber grommet in the tin. Then on the rear side of the tin it goes around the left end of the shroud. Tucked down in between the intake end casting and the shroud. Almost down as low as it will go. Then it heads to the right and inbetween the intake manifold and shroud for a few inches then bends up and angles a bit to the rear from between the shroud and manifold. It bends up enough to get a hose on it going to the pump. All the way around the end of the shroud and across the rear it is so low in that gap that you really can't see it. I use two of those rubber coated clamps at the 2 bolt for the shroud to the cylinder tin to hold the tube. The bolt at the left end and the one on the rear side.

the photo is small but this should be the one. the metal line in the product image is correct for dual port type 1 & 2.
