|
|
I am looking for some mirror mounts for my baja bug. Below is a picture of what I am looking for. However I can only find this style with the 1.5" tube mounts. Does someone make this style of mirror mount for a bug door? Are there other options out there that are close to this design? I am not opposed to customizing this part to work or even making my own mount all together. Just thought I would see if there is a bolt on option out there looking for a home.

look in the off-road gallery and get out your welder...
I just did a quick search and you're gonna have to be creative with your search words, I've seen pics but can't find them quickly... _________________ (o=|=o) Life before play... Damn! it's gonna be awhile. |

Modifying that piece to fit a door would be easy. Just cut off the 1/2 tubes and make a plate out of 1/16" steel sheet to weld onto it. The flat piece should be sort of a 'C' shape to wrap around the front of the windwing area. Mounting screws need to go into the door where they wont interfere with the seal. Use a minimum of 3 screws. 1 under the windwing, 1 into the 'A' pillar of the door, and 1 near the front corner of the windwing opening. _________________ Richard

i bought one of the mirrors and had to modify it a bit so i could see something besides my rear tire.... i had to cut and re-weld the strap a bit. i kept the tube mounts because sooner or later i'll hit a tree branch or something else.

Thanks for all the input. I got mine fabricated and when I get them installed I will post up some pics of what I came up with. Gotta love 1 off custom stuff!!
Don't have them installed yet as I am still waiting for my new doors. But this gives ya a good idea of what I came up with. My plan is to pop rivit them to the door.
