I need more horsepower for my Westy. Is this engine worth installing in a VW Bus?

Henry,

It's worth 10 times what the Bus is worth.

Seriously why would you want to put a measly 160hp when you get a Type 1 built to over 200hp.

2.0l, 160hp, 4 overhead cams, twin plugs. It's a Porsche 4 cam Carrera engine.

I was wondering what this engine engine was. I just got this from an old Porsche mechanic from Brumos. He thought I may be able to use it in my coupe.

Why waste your time on a 4 cylinder Porsche when you can have 6 cylinders?

Don't put it in your westy give it to your brother for the Deluxe. Now that the deluxe is wrecked Very Happy it needs a custom motor to go with the slam job. Wink

That's about $40k sitting there, if it runs a lot more. It would go nice in your coupe.

Dang, 40K! Shocked
I had no idea those engines went for that much!
I'm sure they're real fun to tune...

Hey Thom, what car did that originally come in?
Is it a 356 engine?

It's a Carrera 4-cam, used in the mid-50's Carreras. That motor is forged out of 100% pure unobtanium.

Damn! My dad had two of those just sitting in the back of our garage, been sitting there longer than I've been alive. I chunked them in a dumpster last week! Guess I shouldn't have done that... Mad

Looks like it's from a 356 Carrera 2 and not from a 550 or 904GTS.

Denny Aker's bug is awesome. He also has a 930 powered Vanagon that pulls his enclosed trailer with Porsche inside at 120 mph....
