Does any company regrind and/or harden used VW bus camshafts? Can an undamaged camshaft be used again without any machine work? Will polishing be beneficial?

you can talk to Jake Raby http://www.aircooledtechnology.com/store/home.php?cat=259 about one of his new cams or you can call WebCam camshafts in Riverside CA. We got ours through Riddle Machine CO - RIMCO http://www.rimcovw.com/Services.html who sends them to Webcam. http://www.webcamshafts.com/. Scott at German Supply http://germansupply.com also sells camshafts.

Another alternative is watching the shows and see if a new old stock one turns up. You can also run an ad on Samba and see what shows up. There is one running now and he sees a new cam once in awhile I hear.

Other camgrinders are Isky http://www.iskycams.com/ used to have some nice VW cam grinds but I don't know if they do or not. There is also Crane and Engle camshafts http://www.englecams.com/index.php although Crane has been sold and Engle doesn't list a type 4 cam.

I would also suggest that you purchase lifters from the same company as the camshaft. They need to have the same Rockwell hardness so that they do not "eat" each other.
