I am installing window seals on my '66 and the old ones were so crusty and broken that I couldn't tell which way they were supposed to go. This is the piece that seals the vent window to the post.

Like you, I had no original parts to go on. I installed my '65s as shown in the bottom picture. They work perfectly.

The rear vertical edge of the vent glass will rest / lock-up against the "flat" part of the rubber seal when installed correctly in the frame. The rounded side faces inwards, (towards interior) to give the seal a finished look.

Just for fun, I got off the phone with Wolfsburg West, and he said the opposite, that the seal has a "lean" to it and that it "leans" towards the inside of the car.

Now what? Install one of each and see what works?

This would be an "outside" view, yeah? ^^^

This seems like it would give you a much better seal, and this looks opposite what WW said.

Yes, that's the outside view. I tried it both ways here this afternoon, and it does seem to close better with the rounded part pointing inward like they said, but neither allows the vent window to close fully at the top. Maybe that would change with the frame installed in the door.

Oh wow, my bad! For some reason, I was thinking in terms of the '64 and earlier vent window division bar rubber seal - which is of a different design entirely! The seal in question here is for the redesigned '65 and up vent windows. A much simpler design. My apologies for any confusion or misleading anyone in my earlier post above...

That's the way I installed mine and it works perfectly.
