And another one out in the wild yesterday... Saw this whilst driving my watercooled VW back from the service station yesterday afternoon. Everybody was out for a refuel, fuel price increase by 70cpl again last night...

That Double Cab is in a fantastic condition. Owned by the same guy who has the also very pretty Single Cab parked next to the Apache earlier in the thread.
Very nice also the golden 300SEL 6.3 next to the two beetles at the Bonnets Up, even though its not aircooled... _________________ From the VW stable:

Also possibly interesting:
this one is a '70s 1600SP, which is an exclusive - to - South - Africa 1600 twin port with twin carbs, different exhaust, sports steering wheel, seats with headrests (wow ), Rostyle wheels, unique decals etc. They are getting quite valuable as becoming scarce.
I will try to get a better pic of that car in the future, as the owners work not too far from my workplace...

Here is an old advert / magazine article for the SP I found online. Not my picture, copyright stays with the original author.
So they are Solex carbs, But I don't have any idea about the size...

This weekend we had our annual Senior Citizens Drive from the Old Wheelers Club of Namibia. Everyone just calls it the "grab a granny" event...
Pick up the (mobile) elderly from the three main old age homes in town, do a drive in convoy with police escort this year through town and onto a stretch of as yet unopened highway, off to the clubhouse for coffee and cake for everyone to then return our guests home in the late afternoon.
Lots of fun for everyone.
The two green bugs are both 1959 models.
Some aircooled in front of our Christuskirche (Lutheran Church) in town.

That is a graphic illustration of how ENORMOUS the vehicles from the USA's home-grown manufacturers (i.e. Ford, General Motors & Chrysler) tend to be and one of the reasons why they are not found on British roads!

We have some VW Type 1 Beetles in Great Britain with large, circular rear lights like these, which we also refer to as "elephant's feet". We don't have many elephants here, but there were many within the British Empire.
Namibia, formerly South West Africa or prior to 1919 German South West Africa, like all sensible countries, has right-hand drive cars and drive on the left.
