Gonna give this one a try. Looks like it will jjjjust clear the radiator temp switch with a little trimming

20% increase over existing 16x20

+64 sq in = + 20% = 64/320

320 sq in = 16x20
384 sq in = 16x24

It is 16" x 24" I believe an 18"x24" would fit with the height but I couldn't find one.

16x24

I’ll have to research the size. Instead of attaching to the radiator, I attached to the body. I used existing holes in the nose for my brackets. I used weatherstrip foam to bridge the gap between the rad and condenser. It happens to be a foam, that when unwound from the roll expands quite a bit. Probably from Lowe’s.

, Based on the clearance you have by the rad switch it can't be a 24

Measurement is from outside of tubes without mounting tabs

The 24 has a 22" core so 4 more inches than the one in your pic. Yours would be a 20"

had a compressor crap out. don't know what I'll find inside. Can't flush parallel so a good opportunity to replace.

used to be nice an cold, last year not so much - could have been compressor, could be something else, could be global warming - no reason not to go bigger so I'm going bigger.

I recall the lower 90 degree fitting limited how close I could move the condenser to the left. Seems to keep the factory routing, the frame rail limited the location.

Guess we'll see!

Got a rad switch and it jjjjjust fits!

Will have to trim the mounting tab around the switch.....hope the 90deg fitting isn't an issue.

.....do I have to change my signature until I get the AC going again 😭

Do you have the full set of baffles to install around the condenser?
Mark’s point about foam, sealing to the radiator is equally valid…

As long as you’re going for it, I say go for it! Twisted Evil

I do and with this condenser, I will have to make new ones since the original baffles go to the edge of the radiator core and this condenser is wider than that...I'll come up with something and will share pictures

I have been completely rebuilding/refurbishing my 87 aircon with all new barrier hoses, EZ clip fittings, etc. I was looking for a new parallel flow condenser and inadvertantly ordered a 24x16...D'OH! Brick wall.
I routed my hoses to the PS, trimmed the flange for the fan switch, and was able to utilize the larger unit.

Nice to see it can fit!

Interesting your connection is on the passenger side. My 83.5 and my friends 90 that I work on both have it on the driver's side.

Do you have a right hand drive van? I see on the right in your picture the radiator switch. That is the left side as sitting in the van which is the driver's side in the USA.

The condenser connection in your photo is on the left of the picture which is the right sitting in the van, which is where the passenger sits in the USA.

My condenser connections are on the side where the radiator switch is.

I was flustered, sorry for the misunderstanding. LHD. I was thinking about the rad fan switch. I flipped the condenser and routed the lines to the passenger side.

It fits!

The 24*16 is a juuuust right.

Will button it up later. These pics are with a behr radiator. I have a diff brand where the passenger side is proud of the core only at the bottom and top. On y he e behr it doesn't look like any trimming is needed on the pass side. Yes, the radiator switch is close. Likely need to move the radiator back to replace.

Helped to bend the lower pipe to clear the steering box. This is an early AC, IIRC the later AC has a closer fitting so will likely fit w.o bend.

Can you send a picture of the top connection?

I'm also going to flip my condenser with the fittings on the passenger side but the top fitting doesn't fit well against the radiator bulge.

Not the greatest pics. This one shows the angle of the dangle. I used 90* fittings.

Thanks, they do! Thanks for posting them.

How were you able to fit the side tube and still have the radiator in the top alignment pin?

What kind of radiator do you have?

I have a non-Berh so have only the bulge on top and bottom (the Berh has the bulge all the way top to bottom) - so on mine I was able to lower to get under it. With it up higher the radiator wouldn't align in the top pin. The fitting on the driver's side, it is not an issue with this bulge since just the mounting tab needs to clear.

Another solution may be to tilt the radiator back by inserting a spacer on the bottom mount tab between the tab and the frame and use longer bolts. That angle may allow for the clearance needed between the radiator bulge and the front center body horizontal beam....I didn't try this so just an idea.

Can we clarify that these are the dimensions I can fit?

Or what would be the other option for condenser? Need to buy something local...
