Hey all, I'm looking for an engine mechanic in the south houston area that is good with air cooled motors. I am consistently missing on the #1 cyl, and about 90 psi during a compression test in the same, with the other three cylinders running 125-135psi. Cant wait to have my speedster rep back on the road.

Thanks in advance.

Get it out on the highway for a good high speed run if you have just been puttering around town as your valves may have a bit of carbon on the seat and a good run with the motor turning 4K will clean it out. Did you squirt a small amount of motor oil in the plug hole to see if the low compression was rings (compression will rise) or valves (no change)?

Yeah, DFW is too far away unfortunately. I will do the oil test for ring sealing as well.. Thanks for the suggestions.

The Tub Club is located in the DFW area--too far away per you. Try the Lone Star 356 Club based in Sugar Land, which as you probably know is in the greater Houston area. POC is Mark Roth (who is also a 356 Registry Trustee FWIW). 281-844-4259 [email protected]. Good luck!!

I think I know where you’re talking about. I pass by his place everyday on the way home. Always a lot of nice cars in the work lot getting attention.
