|
|
Hi...
I am tearing down my beam in my 64 splitty.
I took everything apart easily enough including the grub screws in center.
The lower leaves slid out with a little persuasion and the upper ones are stuck.
I could only move them about an inch back and forth with a lot of pounding. I had to walk away before I completely destroyed the leaves with a sledge.
Any ideas on why they would be so difficult? Just crap in there? Is there a method to removing stuck leaves? Am I just an idiot?
I would have tried heat but I only have a homeowner torch with mapp gas.
Help!!! |

| Can you tap out one of the smaller leaves by itself from the pack? That would give room for the rest. Maybe they are welded though? |

Try pushing them to the other side. The might have some rust on them making them not want to slide through the center block. I recently removed some from a beam that were bent on one side, so they would only come through one way. _________________ .

Thanks for the reply.
Soaked in PB all night and put a socket over the end. With a large sledge they finally freed up and came out. Amazing how they came out undamaged. They are stronger than they look! |
