When I painted the van a few years back I replaced the completely rotted out vent wing frames with shiny new aluminum ones. That was a mistake. The upper pivot wasn’t the right angle and the lower pivot knob was made entirely out of plastic. If you see that aluminum one, avoid it at all costs.
The other day I had an excited passenger force the vent window past the point of no return and snap the small plastic swivel over its limit and severed it.
Can you get either NOS frames which aren’t trashy and out of spec or replacement OE pivot knobs?
Better yet, a fixed window hack where id just delete this `break in and steal` zone? The whole thing could use a redesign.

Vent wing parts - Vanagon (VA) Diagram for 1986.
Probably not your year but might identify the "no longer available part #".
Also give a shout out to the various 3D printing Guru's that might be willing to tackle a replacement.

I've used these frames before, and I dropped in the VW pivots, replaced all rivets as well. 6 years of van rental by the ocean, then another 3 from various other owners after me, they're still going!
Out of the box, they're POS. _________________ Silicone Steering Boots and 930 Cv boots for sale in the classifieds.
