I know these aren’t your first logo stickers. But, I just got some eBay ones for my C10 pick up. And they all fell off. I reglued the ones I found.

Oh sh*t, fair warning for me, then, I guess! I will keep my eye on the situation! Happy Sunday, NJ!

14" "Libre", a.k.a. "Daisy" mags, one side finally on the car... Daisy wheels update from this past Saturday, 8/12/2023: Got one side on (the little knobbies are still on the right side--and if you think the car looks tilted, it's because it is!). I had to order some more mag wheel washers from Amazon before I can do the other side; it seems these wheels have pretty thin flanges (at least as far as mag wheels go), and even with 3/8” spacers, I still had to do double washers. Anyway, so far, so good. Just wasn't able to get to any test driving this past weekend. Also not going to pop the center caps on until at least one test drive…

14" "Libre", a.k.a. "Daisy" mags, finally some initial test drives... Still haven't popped the center caps on yet, but have managed to get a couple of short local test drives in with all four wheels/tires finally on the car. First picture is Shell Beach in Guilford, CT, on Monday, August 21, 2023. Second picture is around sunset or so, at Stony Creek Village/Madeira Park in Branford, CT, on Saturday evening, August 26th, 2023. Pretty happy so far with looks, ride, and handling!

14" "Libre", a.k.a. "Daisy" mags, more local test driving... The Bug was accessible on Monday, August 28th, so that's what me and the pup took for our afternoon dog park outing...

What do you know, I pulled the caps out of their wrappers after they had been sitting with the newly-installed metal-backed stickers on them for a couple of weeks, and one of the four stickers was half-disbonded... I may be going to those mylar-backed stickers sooner than I think...

The repro caps, by the way, fit *awesomely.* Will follow up with photos next chance I get...

14" "Libre", a.k.a. "Daisy" mags, finally installed the center caps... As noted last time, the ebay-sourced repro center caps fit *awesomely.* I also noted last time that at least one of those nice-looking metal-backed center cap stickers had partially disbonded from the cap, just from sitting. I did my best to press it back down again, and who knows if it'll stay there long-term. Anyway, here's how they look, and I'll follow up next chance IU get with a couple of overall views of the wheels, with center caps fitted, on the car...

14" "Libre", a.k.a. "Daisy" mags, couple overall views, from a little car display...

I was invited back this year to display my car as a side attraction at the "Short Beach Days" Saturday field events at Pardee Park in the Short Beach section of Branford, CT. I was under the assumption that we'd have a group of cars like last year (maybe 6 or 7 old cars total last year for this display), but just one other fellow showed up--with an OUTSTANDING '98 Mitsubishi Eclipse--with something like 8,000 original miles on the clock (and owned by the original owner too--his beautiful '66 Caddie that he showed last year needed some brake work, so he took the Mitsu). As it became apparent that nobody else was going to show up (we got there at the appointed 8:30am, and hung around until about 9:30, when the field games were about to start), we asked if we could be excused (before we got "parked in" by the games that were going to take place), and were granted passes to get rolling on our way. I told Keith DeCosta (the fellow in the third picture, who's one of the volunteer organizers for Short Beach Days) that I'd be glad to help spread the word next year so that hopefully we get a nice little car show assembled like last year. In all, I still had fun and appreciate the hospitality of Keith, Sean Kelly, and everyone involved! Plus it was VERY cool being able to eyeball that amazing '98 Eclipse up close!

The date of these pictures was Saturday, September 2, 2023, and more info about the weekend-long Short Beach Days is available at: https://www.shortbeachdays.com/

I am very amused with this thread.

The Brock Buster Datsun 510 is mine. So the references to it and the website I created are appreciated.

The Libres on it are 13x7 with very rare 1 3/4 inch diameter center caps. Would love to find an extra set of those! The ones available on Ebay are about 2 1/4 inch and don't work.

I also have a '57 Beetle which is why I am on thesamba.

I read in HVW magazine that some 510’s and beetles were built side by side Australia.

Oh, so awesome to hear from you, Eric! Thanks for chiming in (& for all of your work documenting the legendary Brock Buster)! Needless to say, I am very impressed with your collection! What year Miata? We have a '96 "M" Edition that we love also! Thank you so much once again!

Steve

P.S.: I just assumed that all of those applicable-looking center caps would be the right size. With the advances in 3-D printing, maybe there's some hope for the future? See TheGrafs "Ronal Kleeblat Restoration" thread: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=783208&highlight=

Steve the Miata is a '97 that I have owned since 2000. It has 196k miles on it now and I still just love it. Even with the 510 and Beetle I still get in the Miata and just love it. The funny thing about this three car "collection" is that they are three of the most modified cars of all time I think. Being a purist though - two of mine are nearly bone stock and the 510 was modified back in period in '72.

Very cool, I can appreciate all of that! Thank you again for chiming in--it was very exiting to hear from you, Eric!

Best regards,

UPDATE: I've already lost one of those little metal-backed emblems! Ha ha! I guess I'll "upgrade" to the mylar ones next chance I get. Probably less chance of them disbonding. Anyway, thoiught you'd appreciate that, NJ John! Ha ha!

Now you feel my pain. I guess I order more in the spring and add glue. It’s nice that these things are produced and available.

Yes to all of that. I do already have the mylar ones, though, and so I'm going to try those next. I'm also going to do an alcohol wipe (& air dry) on the faces of the caps, to make sure I have a good clean surface for bonding. Live and learn!
