My Porsche 912's Spain-made Weber 40 IDF's are leaking fuel because of small cracks in the aluminum where the brass inlets bring fuel into the carbs.
I plan to switch the new tops from the Chinese-made Weber 40 IDF's with the old leaking ones on my Spain-made Weber 40 IDF's. Does anyone know if I should not do this?
I have examined the parts and the only difference appears to be that the fuel emulsion tubes on the Chinese Webers are much taller than my Spain-made Webers. Since these emulsion tubes have nothing to do with the top pieces (with floats) that I want to switch there should not be a problem?

If you haven't already bolted up & started running....you should be totally fine.

I could use either emulsion tube top if you'd like.

If the spanish give you any more grief in the bottom half, just ditch them & go full-chinese. Sad to say but true. Weber/Redline USA is just an broker between Spain & the US who has no clue that they are importing some junk lately. They just want it sold.

(FWIW, I'd stick with the jets from the Spanish for accuracy, but even then.....no guarantee spanish are correct but *should* be better than the rest of the carb)

Good luck! Wink
