Lovely car.
A standard tow bar is all you need to tow your buggy.
Buy a receiver that is low enough to keep the tow bar fairly level to the front end of your car.
EDIT: Don't forget the safety chain. _________________ I have learned over the years.

I have towed mine with standard EMPI style to bar, longest trip was 300 miles behind 2005 Chevy Silverado.... Only issue with these is you can't back up (well you can IF you get lucky)... So stay out of blind driveways and parking lots that only have one way in or out...
IF you have locking steering column be sure it stays unlocked, and that trans stays in neutral.. _________________ “Fear The Government That Wants To Take Your Guns" - Thomas Jefferson.

That buggy should follow well. Big tires and not slammed. The lower your ball the better. It’s the lifting action of a tall hitch that makes towing sometimes sketchy. _________________ 1973 standard, yellow, lowered, 3” narrowed front, 1600 blo-thru turbo w/single dell 15.4@86, so far

Nice car. Make sure, and double check that the car is in neutral. A long time ago, I worked at a VW dealership and a roll back wrecker brought in a Baha bug from 60 miles south of where we we were located. The Baha was being towed down Interstate 10, in gear, maybe 1st gear behind a motorhome. It had exploded the engine (going 70mph in 1st gear) The wrecker driver said it had started range fires on some ranches by hot pieces of the motor flying into the bar ditch. The engine was about half still attached and had nearly sawed itself off the transmission, leaving a huge groove cut into the bell housing before other folks driving down the interstate got him to pull over. To late. _________________ '69 Karmy, '69 Camper, Meyers clone, '65 drag bug, 10.78 @ 128 (sold it) '51 Dodge farm truck,

Thanks everyone. I waw.thinking having a welder maybe extend that empi bar some hoping the longer length would help. It doesn't lower the ball obviously but maybe not as sharp of a angle car to ball will do the trick |

Good ideas I did not even think of a lower ball I see them daily but it never entered my mind |

Now just under $30 at WalMart, $33 at Amazon and $45 at HF less 20-30% off coupon - so corrected at $30. Argh, that $8 hamburger is now $18! _________________ CMC '57 Porsche Speedster Replica and Dolphin boat tailed full pan VW MOD-T Street Buggy |
