So I had a pretty big scare today when my air bag module caught fire. Fortunately I had my fire extinguisher and was able to put it out before too much damage. It did melt a good portion of the heater/evaporator housing and the module and wiring will have to be replaced. I found a used module on ebay but can't find the wiring. Does any know where I could find these parts and has anyone ever heard of this happening before? |

Yikes! That's really scary. I'd want to investigate why it caught fire in the first place; was it an internal short or something up stream? I'm guessing it was a ground that had failed somewhere. Good luck and keep us updated with your research and rehabilitation of the airbag system. _________________ Casey--

I recently had the heater core fail and repalced. From the mooks of the air bag module, it appears that it corroded at the connector. Likely due to the heater core failing. This is my best guess right now. I will keep you posted. |
