Interesting article. I especially like the first sentence: "Early brochure images for Volkswagen's Type 1 and Type 2 have such bulbous proportions they appear almost like balloon animal versions of the real thing."

I love his work, especially the soft watercolour shades he used. it's a shame the books about him are so expensive!

it's interesting that his styling of the front of the kg in this example didn't really work...

I really like the illustrations of the first VW catalogs from Bern Reuters, but I prefer the posters and advertising cards by Viktor Mundorff.
It recreates the atmosphere better.
