How do you I find out what year my gear box is ? I have several and need to find out what years they are , They are early and mid sixties . The charts on The Samba do not give any information . Please help there must be a guide some where ?

Hold on, VW transaxle serial numbers are fairly well documented into the mid 1960s. Are you not seeing the Rear Axle column in the chart up through 1965? and some Notes the following years?

Note, they may state some letters before the serial number, but in the early 60s, what was stamped into the transaxle was just the number. The chart says A(B) just to say they are talking about the synchronized Deluxe model transaxles and not the ancient split case no-syncrho tranny found on non-USA Standard models. _________________ Andy T.
