Thoughts guys?

I was trying to remove my fuel line - undid the hose clamp and it pulled the nipple right out of the carb body. Is this carb toast? Should I JB weld it back in? This was my first time changing fuel lines, I don't know how firmly that nipple is supposed to sit into the carb. Seems like this should'nt have happened though!

Buy a lottery ticket, because today was your lucky day. Dodged a bullet there!

It's just a press fit so remove the hose (take a sharp knife and cut the hose until you reach the nipple) and tap it in with a hammer then pull on it with your fingers to see if it's firmly in place then watch it when you reconnect the gas line for any leakage when you start the motor. JB Weld will just get squeegeed off because the fit is metal to metal.

Thanks, I'll do that.

I would suggest getting another top to the carb. The press fit is compromised and could leak and start a fire. I agree you dodged a bullet, happened to me in the past, just get another carb top.

I feel a flip-flop coming. Where can one source a carb top? CIP1 doesn't seem to sell them on their own. My car is a bone stock '66.

Remove fuel line from inlet pipe
Tap pipe back in
Push fuel line back on, don't push it 100% on, leave a little gap as seen in photo below

Safety wire it:

Thanks Everett. This is what a local retired mechanic friend says too, so I think it's the winner.

Cheers,

M.

Hi, if your carb is in need of rebuilding, Tim at Volksbits in the US, will tap the inlet and put a threaded inlet on the carb so you don't have to worry about it leaking or coming off. Had it done to mine so I wouldn't worry. Maybe a local machine shop would do that for you.
