Thanks for doing this. Just bought a 71 last week that I'll do this too this winter. Done lots of standard bugs but this will be my first convertible and all of your tips will save me a ton of time by not having to figure out bracing, etc on my own.

Honestly, that just looks like a good way to trap junk against the pan and rust it out. If you were going to deviate from stock, might as well make it bombproof and not leave so many open ends and corners to collect dirt and water. Use some rectangular tube, but cap the ends and seam seal the whole affair like your life depended on it Very Happy
