The gouge in the side isn't uncommon, most buses have one in some degree.
It's the result of the blind or inept backing out of the parking stall next to it and dragging the big chrome bumper of thier 50's-70' large sedan down the side of the bus, so busy looking behind they don't pay attention to the nose.

| I have seen a number of vertical dents near jack points leading me to believe that the bus either fell off the factory supplied jack or it somehow failed. Again just my opinion |

Yes, vertical, or in an arc is usually the jack, but the long straight and level one is the blind old lady.
