Unfortunately pictures aren't really great to use for this purpose - they look different on each screen and depending on light etc. My pearl white bug looks grey/green in certain lights and bright white in others. But the important thing is that it ends up a shade that you can live with _________________ 1960 Beetle ''Heidi" daily driver

I'd like to add to what others say about photos. I use a calibrated display and use a neutral grey color to adjust color temps in my photos. If your monitor is not calibrated then colors will appear differently.
This picture I took of the Canadian 15-window is the closest color match to reality that I can remember.

My gratitude to the forum member for bringing my attention to the misspelling of the color Titian Red. I am afraid my frustration with color matching got the better of me and no affront was intended. |

just in the nick of time i am sure you would rather get your bus painted by titian the painter than by a titan _________________ regards

This photo looks really accurate to me on my computer here from Buses I have seen in person. _________________ How to Post Photos

Does anyone have the paint brand and tint mix ratios to share of an accurate spray? _________________ Jason Arms

Kurt posted his link earlier in this thread and in that link it showed his paint match. Here is the photo, but the credit goes to Kurt.

Just for another comparable, here are a couple of photos of my original paint SWR 1959 Double-Door Panel. I buffed out the chalky paint until it shined again. We had to repaint the nose skin and used SWR as it would be if new, so you can see the difference between new "day one" paint and the 60 year old faded but polished SWR. The original paint is faded with age and exposure to an almost salmon color...
In spots on the front cab door the SWR as worn off to expose the primer below. And with help from master OG paint match-maker "Lind" I have since replaced the surface-rusty engine lid with a much nicer OG SWR decklid.

Then there's the viewpoint like mine. I went with SWR and Beige Gray on a 67 crew cab I used to own. That was "incorrect". But, I liked it. I'm not trying to please a cadre of purists with my paint jobs. Though, I do agree that finding a color(s) from the body of stock choices usually makes it so you won't regret it as time goes on.
At OCTO this last time, I saw several SWR paint examples that were all different. One, I asked what color it was and was told SWR. It looked like it had dipped a little bit of light brown into the mix. That color, if it ended up on my bus, would be even better to my eye than the right formula. There was a man from Hesperia who restores buses who had a panel bus that he restored BEAUTIFULLY and it was all SWR. I think he got his gray interior panels from Clara. She may know who I'm referring to and if so, he would be a great resource.
I figure if you like the color that goes on your bus, you will be happy even if it's not perfectly "correct" but instead, just what you expected.
Good Luck,
Chuey |

You are talking about Shaun from Slow Ride Garage. His 1960 panel is impressive. _________________

The color on this beauty is spot-on to what the original SWR looked like on this bus. _________________ Brandon |

Does it make you wish you kept it?
I tried finding before pics in your gallery but I couldn't. It came out really nice.

I always want to keep them all, but can't afford to, and also don't have the time to spend on them. That bus hibernated in my storage container for years before I finally let it go to him. It was my first "early" bus, I bought it when nobody else thought it was worth it at the time!
The before pictures make it even that more impressive. _________________ Brandon |
