Guys,
Most of you know this cartoon
Link
We need someone with the skill to make a similar cartoon except this would cover the things to do when you’re bus won’t crank/start
We get numerous threads related to this issue and if there was a tutorial covering the top 10 things to try that we could reference it would be a huge help.
Please, someone tackle this for us _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

Aeromech. Can you list the top 10 you want mentioned in a video? This would need to be universal for carbureted and FI engines. I’ll ask some of my friends if they can do something similar to the bears. _________________ Keep on Busin'

I’ll get together with Telford and see if we can develop a flow chart. Might be better than the cartoon _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

I'm adding humor here, just for fun.. But it DOES sound like a workwhile project.
[1] Loose nut behind the Steering Wheel
[2] Crazier Nut back in the engine compartment...
Define Cranks, as in engine is BEING rotated by the Starter Motor when the ignition key is turn to the Start Position
Which naturally leads to Cranks, but won't start.
Was the VW running before?
Did you do anything to it that you're embarrassed to admit to a group of strangers on the Internet
Can you 'undo' the things you aren't telling us you did in the first place?
Have any cheap Chinese parts been installed recently.
Did you save the Original German parts that you 'thought' were bad, but could probably be rebuilt by more experienced Samba members for not that much money. _________________ '68 Westy- my first VW and vehicle/Bus- long gone.- sold it to a traveling Swiss couple....

The Muir book is excellent on this, but you have to study up and learn how subsystems work before the no-start occurs.
The countless threads on “ my car won’t start, help” quickly turn into a nightmare of “ check this, check that” with an OP with no expertise
Learning about the ass that bears you is a price to pay for driving a vintage anything, you can’t Google your way to basic knowledge. _________________ .ssS! |
