The likely very same Ghia is seen in various episodes of the '70's TV show "Charlie's Angels" filmed in the Los Angeles, California area.
- Man sweeping behind it; season 2, episode 24 named "Antique Angels", 1978.
- In background of parking lot, with the white Mustang II Fastback backing up from Angel Kris Munroe. S2, E25 "Angels on the Run", 1978.
- Parked 2 cars behind Angel Sabrina Duncan (Kate Jackson), S3 E11 "Angels Belong in Heaven", 1978.
- "most likely" the same Ghia since only a small portion is visible- S3 E2 "Angel come Home", 1978.
- More photos of a yellow Ghia Coupe coming soon. This time, an anthracite grey Ghia Coupe in "Angels on the Run".

Some rail buggies.
An entrant in the Baja 1000 in the documentary "The Racing Scene" (1969) by actor James Garner (Maverick, Grand Prix, The Rockford Files, and so many more). He was a car enthusiast and versatile, skilled amateur race car driver. He created his own racing team American International Racers (AIR) in the late 1960's. Garner produced, and narrated this documentary of his car life.
Composite photo of a rail buggy powered by a Type 1 engine, 1970's TV show "Police woman" season 4.
Engineless rail buggy, TV show "The A-Team" S3E13 "Breakout" (1984). Driver is supposed to be A-Team member Murdock (Dwight Schultz) with B.A. Baracus (Mr. T) as passenger. Murdock explains this is a modern variation of the 19th century "prairie schooner" by having a large sheet as a wind sail for motive power. |

Ghia Coupe in foreground, TV show "Burke's Law" episode "Who killed the 13th clown" S2E23, 1965.
US-spec '68/'69 Ghia Coupe, German late '60's- early '70's TV series "Der Kommissar- Spur von kleinen Fuessen" (track of small feet).
German 1964 documentary "Der Autokult" produced by the German TV station SWR (Suedwest Rundfunk, Southwest Broadcasting) and fully named "Der Autokult- Zeichen der Zeit 1964". It's a skeptical, critical and somewhat pessimistic view of how automobiles have proliferated in Germany and influenced general culture.
1. Two-toned Coupe in city traffic, Munich's Marienplatz. Looking west with the new town hall in background. Decades ago the street and plaza closed to vehicle traffic to make it a very popular pedestrian zone.
2. Combined with GoogleMaps street view of same location in 2008. |

^ I never heard of the "Secret Agent" program; aka "Danger Man". Searching for it in YouTube I found a channel that has many suspense/crime drama shows from the 1960's or 1970's that I also never heard of: "Interpol calling", "Man in a suitcase", "Jason King", "Ghost squad", "The Adventurer", etc. and I watched a lot of TV in the early 1970's here in the USA. I know Mr. McGoohan starred in "The prisoner" a few years after his Secret Agent role. |

In the 1969 Walt Disney movie "The computer wore tennis shoes", Medfield College student main character Dexter Riley (Kurt Russell) drives a very nicely done dark blue Meyers Manx. Chrome reversed "wide-5" rims, aluminum cover plate/license plate mount under the rear license plate light, 4-into-1 header with "glasspack" muffler, BF Meyers hood emblem covered by a flower sticker, MANX badge on the left side of the tail panel.
Late in the movie, the businessman/gambling mastermind antagonist A.J. Arno (Cesar Romero) and his henchmen chase Dexter and his friends who escape on a pickup loaded with paint supplies from their side business. Arno's own luxury car is flooded and won't start. Arno's henchman Chillie Walsh (Richard Bakalyan) sees the buggy parked in the distance, yells "the kid's car!" ("Brooklyn" accent, with car rhyming with "raw") and the gang piles in.
They drive fast and catch up to the paint truck, where its crew is on the pickup bed and start throwing paint barrels and ladders against the Manx to slow it down. In swerving to avoid the things, Arno loses his balance and leans far out of the Manx. Reminds me of "The love bug" movie where Tennessee is leaning out the right door with Carole hanging onto him, to balance Herbie on 3 wheels...
Skidding/spinning on fresh red paint-
The henchman shooting at the paint truck is actor Bing Russell, Kurt Russell's real father!
Ultimately they spray red paint onto it from their on-truck power spray pump, blocking the windshield; and the Manx drives blindly into a haystack to end the chase.
Many small differences indicate there were TWO nearly identical Manxes in the chase sequence. In the quad composite, arrows point to differences: License plate light type, small badge on right rear, color of the exhaust, fastening of the license plate mount onto the body, and the color/type of the hand grip on the side of the windshield. All of the Manx's occupants change to stuntmen.
Also the position of the windshield wipers, though this appears to the "Manx 1" in both scenes. |

^ I have several screen shots in my gallery from this episode showing the poor Beetle getting blown up. But due to the gruesome nature of the explosion I don't want to shown them here.
Here are a few oval-window Beetles:
TV show "Dragnet" season 4 episode 26 "DHQ The Victims" (1970).
In traffic, as seen by a following police car with dual cameras for speed-documenting equipment. German documentary "Als die Polizei noch im Kaefer kam- Blaulichtgeschichten aus NRW". Translation- When the police still came in Beetles- blue light stories from Northrhein-Westphalia.
German crime drama TV show "Der Kommissar", season 2 episode 1 "Der Papierblumenmoerder" (1970). Translated The Commissioner, the paper flower murder. Show takes place in the overall Munich, Germany area. IMDB does not list the exact city nor the junkyard location. |

^ "No, Robin; although your young eyes may interpret the taillamps as a '62, you'll notice the Beetle is a '63 when we pass by it if it does not have the Wolfsburg hood crest; and has clear blinker lenses."
Probably the very same Beetle from the background driving past the Batmobile parked in front of Police Headquarters, episode "The Joker is Wild" season 1 episode 5.
From the "Batman" movie:
And a Ghia parked in Gotham City- |

Background on comedienne Taylor Tomlinson's facebook post. Look to left of her head, in the backdrop. I don't know the venue or date.

Anthropoid, 2016. In December 1941, two Czech soldiers (Cillian Murphy, Jamie Dornan) parachute into their occupied homeland to assassinate Nazi officer Reinhard Heydrich (Detlef Bothe).
