|
|
Hey people,
I have a wire that is black and white that is part of the wiring loom for the generator. IDK where or what it is for. The only B/W wires in that area are for lighting. I've looked at many schematics, and can't find this one.
Other problem is that it is always hot, with the key out/in and with the motor running. The wire is not attached to anything and has a female insert on the end. BTW, I don't have it touching the shroud normally. Oh yeah, 412, FI, Auto, no heater, D-Jet.
Any ideas?
Thanks'.

What about rear left flasher?
In the wiring diagram its wire is colored black/white.
There is also a b/w wire going from this wire to the diagnosis socket labelled (10).
Take a look in the lower right corner of this diagram:

Another B/W for right-side high beams. But none of these venture near the regulator. _________________ Current Fleet:

Thats very trye Ray, the white area looks wider than the black so it should be a W/B wire if so.

Well, it is strange that the wire is coming from the loom that connects to the generator. You let a local mechanic work on your 412 one time....
All of my lights are working except the reverse right side light. So I am expecting that the person who hooked up the generator just "through that in", as it were. The distance from where the wire is sitting to any of the lights doesn't make sense. Im going to pop out the generator and see what's going on in it. Also, that may explain what the wire is always hot (with power). |

Can the wire be blue/white (bl/ws)?
On later cars there is a bl/ws wire from the alternators D+ to the Eberspächer relay right in the middle of the diagram below.
It thells the Eber logic if the engine is running or not (almost at AI level ).
It makes the hot air fan go in high or low speed (by a resistor at the relay) depending on if the engine is running or not ie the altornator is charging or not. This function is to save the current draw.
My guess gies to that wire!

I think your guess is the best one.
That also crossed my mind because I have a picture somewhere in my brain of a striped wire either going straight to the auxiliary heater fan or to the rectangular plastic capacitor that my car came with that went between the power supply and the fan to kill radio noise.
I got in late last night so I will look at m6 car shortly. Ray |

I will try and track it down. Hopefully this weekend I will have time to trace the wire and see where the source that it is coming from. The car had a heater before I got the car, which was around 7 years ago. Something is missing somewhere. When I was following the wires (at lunch at work), the power shut off and then came back extremely low. When I figure it out i will post some photos with it.
Thanks' for the help. |

Hi
I think I have a solution for that.
This cable goes from the left tail light to the service connector [ T 20 / Pin 10] which (at least in my Variant) is mounted right next to the generator regulator [C1].
VW then put this cable together with those for the generator in a common hose.

Thanks 412STi, I think you may be on to something with that. I will take a look. |
