There are no hard feelings here. I'm just vigorously defending my position, that's all.
And like you, I am not going to pay to send free parts.
As to the USPS small flat rate box at $10.65, the dimensions are 8 11/16 x 5 7/16 x 1 3/4 . That's right everyone, the third dimension is 1.75 inches. No way a set of H4s are going in that box - we're not just talking about the bulbs here. No effing way the whole lamp x2 are going in that box.
https://www.usps.com/ship/priority-mail.htm?msockid=2038907f7f726d26201485457ec86c04#flatrate
Again, no hard feelings. But people gotta know I'm not ripping them off and not bullshitting. |

Not sure how to do this without bumping your post down a notch, but after reading this more carefully and our PM chat, it is now crystal clear to me that I TOTALLY misinterpreted what you were trying to do.I'm not sure where my head was that day and the day after.
I owe you a public and heartfelt apology for my above posts; I am sorry to you especially, but also the community at large.

No apology is necessary, Rob.
In retrospect, my initial post was not vey clear as to what I was doing.

Sorry but you guys are going to at least fill a solid page with personal insults toward each other, ending with both you hating each other forever.

It was all just a misunderstanding and has been all sorted out---no hate.
(by the way, Everett, can you use a set of free brake pads ? They will fit a '66-'71 Type III ) |

I ordered a set of rear brake hoses instead of front brake hoses. I did realize my mistake for a few months but now I have an extra pair or rubber rear brake hoses that fit my 1972 VW Karmann Ghia. If anyone can use them let me know. Free to good home.
I believe that these will fit:
Buyer's Guide : IAP 113611775E Brake Hose
VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE 1968-1978
VOLKSWAGEN KARMANN GHIA 1968-1974
VOLKSWAGEN SUPER BEETLE 1971-1979
VOLKSWAGEN THING 1973-1974 |

I have ghia high back seats (4), low back seats (2), back seats (2), 2 sets of bumpers. For pickup locally in the NVA Washington DC area. No more space in my shed so hopefully someone can use these for their restoration. |

Hey everyone. What a rad group! A free parts thread? Man, super nice. Are we allowed to ask for parts here? I just resumed a project that was my brothers. _________________ "When I die, I want to die like my grandfather who died peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in his car." |

I'm going to say, no to that, just gifting parts free plus an actual cost for shipping. Also in the opening post in this topic, rule #3 -You may NOT request any items. Use a WTB classified for that.
There is another perfectly good way around that and it's one that has worked well for as long as The Samba has been running. Start your own Ghia restoration topic. You will often pay for parts by sharing your experiences with others. It's not to say that everything you need will be free but others will be more inclined to do you favours without you having to ask. _________________ John.

Thanks man! I started documenting the build on Instagram. It's pretty rad. A time machine from 1990. I should post it here to. I think a few old gen-Xers like me may be interested in reliving the late 80's VW days. _________________ "When I die, I want to die like my grandfather who died peacefully in his sleep.
