Help with a 911 purchase

I'm looking for a little help while I decide on what 911 to purchase. I've always been a huge fan since I was a kid and now the time has come for me to step up and be an owner!

I found this 911 at Beverly hills car club. It looks like it has everything I want, but when scrolling through the pictures there is a hole that has been cut out in the passenger side front trunk next to the spare tire. Does anyone have an idea on why this might have been done? How much does it affect the integrity of the car?
Also, does anyone have an opinion on Beverly hills car club? The reviews seem to be pretty spotty, five star and one star.

In past, they seemed to advertise cars they had sold or never had. Is that car actually on their lot?

I would hope the car is in their lot. I reached out to them but haven't heard back. LA is in pretty bad shape right now.

I tried to call them about a few cars and each time they said the car was already sold (or spoken for). Probably by the time you see pictures on their site, it's too late. I suspect most of their cars go to a list of "regular" customers.

BEAWARE of red lopstick on a pig!! Do you know how much the upkeep on this car if you know nothing? You at the mercy and you have no choice but to pay up and up and up. If you can wrench and it's not a: Bondo Queen: buy it but remember the word Porsche = $$$ and all parts are crazy expensive and if your :mechanic is a dufas" you will pay through the pocketbook.

I don't see a hole, only some tar like thick black paint similar to that paint around the front shocks mounting points. Also around the seat mounts. Is it to stop them slipping around or to protect the paint from being penetrated by the fastening down pressure. Either way that black patch looks similar in both application colour and texture to the shock mounting points which are definitely factory so more than likely that paint is also factory . Likely to protect the paint from being scratched through from the jack or some optional fitted extra.
As regards the SC engine it was built for heavy duty use with larger thicker and stronger everything as it was also the base for the turbo engines and porsche did one block for both so they are pretty indestructible in their detuned non-turbo version. I believe they also have the heavy duty turbo chains and tensioners .

In California it is all about getting the car through the smog program. For sure Beverly Hills Car Club has their own smog guy willing to overlook a few details. You will not be so lucky. Anything you cannot verify is a complete unknown. Alex Manos is not going to back up any assurances he gives you once the sale is completed. The good side of the Beverly Hills is he does let you perform a thorough inspection on site. I don't think he will allow you to take the car to another shop for inspection.

Thanks Nitramrebrab72, You have a better eye than me. The pictures are defiantly playing tricks on me. I do live in Idaho so I'm not worried about smog. I will need to find an inspector to go and check it out.

I've visited BHCC a couple of times and if I were you I would search ads like Craigslist for a SoCal car and have it looked at. I think you'd be better off buying a car from a private party. Of course not always but be vigilant about looking and be on the spot with getting in touch!

Beverly Hills sells a wide variety of cars in all conditions. Amusing to see what they advertise. If you just assume all are projects you will be fine. They have NOTHING to hide

how negotiable are they? their prices seem to be rather strange and all over the place, but higher than I would expect.

You need to visit their location to see the caliber of cars that they sell. a quick walk through the facility and you'll notice everything from project cars to a few really nice cars. The building itself is a time capsule and worth the trip.
The cars are stacked in parked very close to each other and it's difficult to really see anything up close. The Porsche area usually has some decent cars. Just don't expect BAT caliber here. Most are driver condition, meaning they look great driving by at 50mph, or from 50feet away. They do have an area where the really good stuff sits, these cars are the ones that fetch the high dollars.

I would suggest shopping locally, go see a few in your range, and a few out of your range. Feel comfy on how much work you might have to do to get a car to your level and price range.

Go to your local cars and coffee and talk to folks that have the car you want. These guys are usually plugged into the scene and have friends that can steer you the right way.
