Woah, just saw this post , thanks for the nice shout outs Steve! I think I saw a post where your selling them now , but they really look good on your bug. Its a neat look.
I still have my 15's , and am debating whether to polish them or sell em. as much as i hate my Rivies on my fastback... they just... work, and would likely look a helluva lot better if i put some effort into refinishing them.
anyway , again, thanks for the kind words even if im over a year late. You were a excellent buyer to work with. |
Hi Trevor:
Thanks so much for the check-in, and thanks again for one of the absolute nicest transactions (not to mention nicest parts) I've ever experienced within the realm of TheSamba! Thanks for the nice words on what I ended up doing with those very nice wheels--they were perfect for what I was looking for! I'm a couple of wheel setups after them now, with some truly oddball 13-inchers with mini-knobbies on them also now up for sale. Now I'm going low-budget with some decent, but non-refinished "daisy" wheels, and used tires that I had left over from another set of wheels. Always trying to have some fun here & there. Glad to hear you're staying active also! Thanks again for the wonderful wheels! All the best to you!

I recently got a set of 15" Dan Gurney style wheels for my '70 Beetle. I am having a very hard time finding the lug bolts that I need to install them. For some reason M14 x 1.5 flat seat lug bolts seem to be a rarity. Does anyone know where I can get some?
While searching the internet for Dan Gurney Wheels I noticed something strange, that I believe distinguishes a real Dan Gurney from a reproduction. If you look closely to the spokes and how they align with the holes you will find that there are two versions. One where the holes line up with the gaps in the spokes and one where the holes line up with the spokes.

There is a difference in the Valve Stem location in relation to the spokes as well. |
