Camper van Requirements
Looking for advice on our next Van/camper. Currently own and mostly love our 2022 VW Eurovan weekender but it’s nearing end of serviceable life and looking for the next van. Major complaints of the Weekender are 1) storage is very limited (constantly shuffling gear around) 2) parts becoming hard to find and finding anyone to service near me has dwindled or non existent. We are pretty minimalist, don’t need a lot of typical camping features tied to the vehicle, and prefer more storage room.
Any ideas from the Samba family?
Requirements
- Queen bed
- Open feel with plenty of windows, light, outside views. Privacy/security not a priority.
- Sleep 2.
- Standing room for partial space, but not higher fixed ceiling, so pop up.
- Decent Storage for food, cooking gear, clothing, stove, foldable chairs and table, large cooler, 5 gallons of potable water, small firewood supply, small camping stove
- Sun and rain protection capable
- (Secure) Bike rack for two bikes, not stored in vehicle
- Don’t need or want sink, toilet, fridge, microwave, or water or electric hookups. We often camp at campgrounds that have toilets or pack out.
- Heat source…maybe, not year round campers and camp in the desert in colder seasons.
- Typical trips are 2-3 days, we are not van life people, but camp often.
- 4wd not mandatory but clearance and reasonably rugged for typical Colorado FS/BLM roads
- Minimal electrical/lighting needs
- Minimal need to be inside van except for sleeping and occasional foul weather but we are fair weather campers and like to be outside
- Can be used and older but mechanically sound and serviceable.
Budget: open, up to 70K ish but that would be extravagant
