Looking for referrals from the Eurovan community on good knowledgeable mechanics to do a Transmission rebuild in a 2001 Eurovan. Looking for shops in the Northeast United States I could contact and discuss my transmission issue with.

I would assume that the transmission is a fairly modern design so most any shop that rebuilds transmissions should be able to do it.

Maybe call the local VW dealership and ask them who they use.

It's not like you have a 69 Squareback.

There's a place in New Jersey that supposedly uses heavy dirty clutch baskets?

Just had our EV trans rebuilt at Meenan Transmission in Lansdown, PA.

It was plenty spendy.

I just had my 2003 Eurovan transmission rebuilt by ADG transmission in Boardman Ohio (330) 758-5885. $4200 for the complete job, all new components with a 3 year 36,000 parts and labor warranty. I think it was $1000 cheaper to use rebuilt parts but the warranty was only 1 year.

Hello folks,

FYI - I had a good experience with Meenan Transmission (215) 855-5123 in Landsdale PA.

They diagnosed transmission. It needed a rebuilt valve body (etc), which they did and got me out the door for less than $2K. It's a tough repair to stomach, but the juddering between gears is gone and I'm back on the road for long-haul trips.

Did you happen to have a harsh 1-2 shift with the faulty valve body?

@mans442, I don't recall exactly if it was 1-2, but the transmission did have some harsh shifts from time-to-time.
