Parked car at my son house this morning and few hours later I could not start the car (no crank at all). Battery is 4 years old and was replaced by PO. Car was starting without any issues (cranking very quick start every time) till today. Just recalled, when I parked the car I turned off ignition switch while transmission gear was in the drive mode. Had to change to parking in order to remove the key from ignition. Not sure if that has anything to do with my issues. hmm
Any thoughts? Thanks.. |

Accessory power stays on with the key in the ignition after being on. That, coupled with your 4 year old battery is why it won't start.
You need a new battery. They are generally rated at two or three year life span. Get a good brand like Interstate and spend the extra for a three year ratted one. _________________ If it ain't broke, don't fix it! |

I don't think waxio mentioned leaving the key in accessory position. 4 year old battery is not too old - they are just guaranteed for "x" months, they can run for quite a bit more than that, with 5 years being the typical "better safe than sorry" timeframe generally accepted.
Good test would be to try with a jump, or even better, with a jump pack - that will rule out the battery.
Loose battery connections can often be an issue.
EuroVan model is not in your sig, but I see from an earlier post it is NOT a camper, so that rules out the rotated passenger seat thing! _________________ David

The transmission lockout could still be engaged. Try moving the van through the gears again - I have had that happen on my 95 in the past - not sure if things are different on the newer ones. _________________ David

I did not left the key in the ignition. I will try different battery tomorrow. I dont think its battery, it was cranking perfectly, quick start every time, no issues or symptoms of failing (long crank time etc). |

Its a regular Eurovan MV. I will try to jump with jump pack tomorrow. As far a s battery connections, everything looks good, no loose connections. But I will tight them down tomorrow (didnt have basic tools with me, not even 10mm wrench to check ) |

"Moving the van through gears again" how? Its not running.. But I was able to move gear selector from P to 1 and back just with the ignition key turned ON with no issues. |

That is what I meant (sorry I was not very clear). If you can move the gear selector away from park and back to park and it still will not start - that is the test I was indicating. _________________ David
