71 Ghia. Does anyone know the exact screw that holds the metal door sill down? I need to buy some. |

I think they should be flat rather than panhead. |

okay, but I can tell you that these panhead screws work fine, and are more similar than a flathead to the "filister head" called for on page 8-77 of the parts manual.

I think I used the wrong term. I really was just wondering if it were ok to be domed on top. Mine are all phillips head screws but flat across the top and tapered underneath more similar to thos shape. No idea if original. Probably not. |

yes, it's okay to be domed on top. If you're looking to maintain original look, go with the panhead (domed) screws, like at the link I provided. Here's a separate discussion where TDCTIDI includes two pics of a sill with original screws.

However, if you do a search on "sill" for Ghias in the gallery, in some restorations, you'll also see use of screws that are tapered underneath. Reasons could be varied, whether personal preference, availability, better fit for aftermarket sill, or door alignment that is too tight/narrow to allow the original type screw.

I just remove mine from.my 1970. They were all rounded on top. #1 Philipps.
I will have to dig for the baggies if you want a pic. _________________ - 1973 Thing, 1970 Ghia, some LandCruisers and an old Ambulance |
