What are the Best head gaskets to use on my 87 westy with a 2004 2.5 L Subaru Impreza engine to help me not worry anymore!!

I used Sixstar about 10 years ago for my 02 2.5L NA after an oil leak. Lots of people have a hate on for Felpro.

Where is a good place to order the 6 Star and are they available in Canada? Link ? If not I will order them from the US thank you

I just replaced head gaskets on my 2008 2.5 engine this past winter... only roughly 15,000 miles after a shop replaced them with Felpro ones. I used genuine Subaru STI (MLS - multi-layer-steel) head gaskets after doing much research. Whatever gasket you use, I highly recommend you take the heads to your local machine shop and have them resurfaced. Use new head bolts too.

I got my Sixstar HGs from SixstarBernie on EBay. Used his Made in Japan headbolts as well.

Apparently Sixstar are made by Cometic, so you could look at Cometic MLS gaskets as well. Never worry again? Maybe less worry. They say they will all fail at some point because of the boxer design. I'm thinking oil leaks at the #4 cyclinder. My OE graphite HGs lasted maybe 12 years (low mileage) and the Sixstars are around 10+ years so far.(now with a new owner and he hasn't had a leak yet)

Subaru branded MLS headgaskets if you prefer, are same as Victor Reinz MLS gaskets from Rockauto afaik.
