I'd love one of those R32s. Sadly, I was busy dealing with a mix-up with the tune-up kit Van Cafe sent me having the distributor cap being incompatible with the plug wires they included. I also have some electrical gremlins with my turn signals, and bad transmission synchros that need to be dealt with. _________________ 1984 2wd 7 Passenger Tin Top |

That’s an easy kit to mix up when pulling parts, had that same problem once myself.
Nice turnout, Joe! _________________ 1984 Westfailure/2.1 Digijet/5.43 Ring & Pinion/Peloquin/D-rated BFG KO2s

Yeah, I popped the new coil in and that end went on just fine, but when I went to hook it up to the cap, even just a little pressure split the plastic around the connector like it was nothing. _________________ 1984 2wd 7 Passenger Tin Top |

I can’t recall the variances, but thought it had something to do with connector depth or type on the cap and/or wires.
The good news is you’re 15 miles from parts, and that’s extreeemely rare.
I recall when a friend bought a ‘90 Passat, and the Road & Track review termed the car “Riddled with annoyances.” That quote still survives in our lexicon 34 years later, when discussing *anything* VW bus. _________________ 1984 Westfailure/2.1 Digijet/5.43 Ring & Pinion/Peloquin/D-rated BFG KO2s

I went out to VWs on The Green yesterday...If last year was kind of a dud, this year was a roaring success. I have never seen that many VWs of all stripes at a show in Colorado. And the weather was glorious.
Lori's van, Dolores, prepping for sale:
41k mile survivor...This thing was as pristine as any I've ever seen. They are selling it but hadn't decided on a price.

VWs on the Green (VWOTG) is the annual show by VWEC (VW Enthusiasts of Colorado.)
https://www.govwec.org/car-show/
For our Vanagon meetups, I post the times and dates in this thread and also on the Denver Vanagons Facebook page.
We'll have something on the calendar soon for Mid-June. _________________ Joe T.

Awesome. We pick up our first vanagon tomorrow. We were up at vancafe today picking up parts to get it tuned up and lessen the chance of fire and my 4 year old was telling them all the things she needs for her new van. We are coming from sprinters and really looking forward to a van after a couple year hiatus. |

Hi Folks,
Sorry for the late notice, but we're having a meetup this Sunday at 2 PM at Acreage up in Lafayette, one of our usual spots.
1380 Horizon Ave, Lafayette, CO 80026
It's supposed to be 99 degrees on Sunday...but it's a dry heat, and a great way to stress test your cooling system.
(I can't fathom that it will be any hotter than that blacktop meetup last August.) _________________ Joe T.

Hi Folks,
Very late notice--my deepest apologies--but we're meeting up on THIS SUNDAY here in Denver:
Leever's Locavore
2630 W 38th Ave
Denver, CO 80211
I've never been to this place but it was recommended as a good meetup spot by one of our local Vanagon pilots.
Hope you can make it!

Thanks to those who came yesterday. We were able to hang out and have a few drinks and good Vanagon talk before the gigantic thunderstorm hit.
To be blunt, for a group with (allegedly) 600 members, the turnout sucked. I take full responsibility and am thinking it might be time to pass the torch. _________________ Joe T.

I was planning to join and it would be my 84 Westy's maiden voyage after being parked for 15 years (with fresh drivetrain and some badly needed deferred maintenance completed). Sadly, my new front brakes showed up without the new wheel bearings I ordered so had to delay. Shame, would have been a pretty fun way to launch it's new chapter.
I should be able to make the next one though! |

6 or so Buses at the beginning of Summer when there's lots of other stuff to do isn't bad at all.
